Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

Salary: Competitive

Working Hours: Monday to Friday - 08:00 - 17:00 - 38 hours per week

Location: Glasgow

Your primary responsibilities will include:

Technical

Submitting detailed and timely Applications for Payment.
Identifying, reviewing and detailing variations, the preparation and submission of detailed prices including supporting documentation for agreement.
Preparation of all necessary supporting documentation in support of Final Account submission including negotiating the settlement of the Final Account.
Analysing actual costs and future expenditure, highlighting any errors or inconsistencies on a monthly basis.
Forecasting estimated value, cost and margin on a monthly basis, reconciling any movements in the month by exception, and reporting on any variances from the tender allowances.
Pursuing Notices or Certificates for Payment, and the resultant payments that become due, including retentions.
Reporting by exception of any matter or event that is likely to affect the forecast outturn of a project.
Developing an understanding of the conditions of contract relating to any project and ensuring the Businesses rights are preserved and entitlement is safeguarded where practicable.
Processing Subcontract Orders when necessary to meet programme requirements; valuing the work undertaken by Subcontractors and issuing the appropriate Notices and processing payments as necessary.
Be aware of the agreed programme and be able to identify delays to the progress of the works and report this to Senior Surveyors for review.

People Management

Providing Guidance and Development to Assistant Quantity Surveyors.
Capable of working in a team environment supporting colleagues and providing advice on all commercial matters when necessary.
Understanding customer s requirements and conducting business in a professional manner at all times.
Good communication skills, both oral and written.
Good listening skills and capable of interpreting directions.
Meeting agreed Key Performance Indicators.

Health & Safety

Ensuring all employees are aware of their obligations under the Arthur McKay Health & Safety Policy, and that work is carried out in accordance with the policy at all times.
Helping create and maintain a positive safety culture, leading by example at all times.
Ensuring that all health, safety and environmental incidents and complaints are reported and investigated and that action points are successfully closed off.

Experience and Qualifications:

Mandatory

Good PC skills, including advanced Excel.
Good analytical skills.
Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skill.
Good report writing skills.
Good Personal and professional presentation skills
Good influencing skills
Full driving licence

Additionally, this role will require Disclosure Scotland Clearance. Baseline or other similar security clearance may also be required.
