Principal Research Engineer - 6G Standards

As a Principal Research Engineer specializing in 6G Standards, you will be part of an innovative 6G research team. Your contributions will be vital in developing cutting-edge solutions, algorithms, and protocols to address the challenges of future wireless systems, specifically targeting the 3GPP RAN, SA, or CT standardization process. This role integrates advanced research, technical leadership, and collaborative efforts with global standardization bodies to shape the future of telecommunications. You will report directly to the Head of Wireless Lab, playing a crucial role in driving innovation and reinforcing the company's standing as a leader in 6G technology.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute research focused on 6G standards relevant to 3GPP RAN, SA, and/or CT in collaboration with the Wireless Standards team.
• Contribute to 6G research innovation, generating intellectual property and publishing contributions to industry standards.
• Engage with global standardization bodies and industry forums to influence 6G standards, including ETSI, ITU, and 3GPP.
• Monitor technological trends to align research with future industry requirements.
• Lead interdisciplinary research initiatives to ensure top-tier technical excellence.
• Establish and nurture strategic alliances across industry, academia, and government sectors.
• Manage the company's contributions to multiple organizations, ensuring alignment with global technological standards.
• Present key insights and represent the company at industry events, including keynote speeches and panels.
• Produce thought leadership materials, including white papers, blogs, and research publications in the 6G domain.
• Oversee the integration of technical solutions within projects, ensuring alignment with the company's objectives.
• Address complex challenges in 6G research by applying advanced technical knowledge and innovative strategies.
• Drive improvements in research methodologies, tools, and processes to sustain a competitive advantage.

Qualifications

• Master's degree (PhD preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
• Over 10 years of engineering experience, particularly in large-scale, cross-functional research projects.
• Proven leadership in industry forums with a track record of impacting standards and technology direction related to 3GPP systems.
• Recognized subject matter expert in telecommunications, especially in 3GPP-based wireless networks.
• History of innovation showcased through published research papers or patents.
• Exceptional English communication skills and experience in high-profile representation.
• Familiarity with European and International R&I wireless ecosystems, such as ETSI, ITU-R IMT systems, and HEU/H2020 is a plus.
• Project management experience is advantageous.
• Strong ability to work independently and manage oneself effectively.
• Skilled in problem-solving, executing on goals, and articulating a clear vision.
• Willingness to travel internationally is required.
