Due to business growth an exciting new opportunity has arisen to join the management team at the East of England Arena and Events Centre in the role of:

Event Bar Manager

Reporting directly to the Managing Director and as part of the operational management team the main purpose of the role will be to manage all aspects of bar management at the East of England Arena.

The ideal candidate in this position must thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced and high-volume environment maintaining a courteous demeanour with all customers and our internal team. Strong leadership, commercial and personnel management skills should be accompanied by a customer service focus and commitment to working as part of a diverse team on all small- and large-scale events held across multiple bar operations.

Your Duties & responsibilities

Undertake any other duties as required by your manager, which may include some out of hours work depending on the nature of the task.
Manage a team of internal and external staff, giving full briefings, planning effective rotas, and delegating tasks for all bar related events
Manages all compliance with all local beverage and liquor laws.
Understands beverage control including days on hand, perpetual inventory, bar pars, portion control, costs controls, beverage potentials, mix of sales analysis for beverage, issue & returns and period end inventory.
Monitors adherence to all liquor control policies and procedures.
Providing leadership, motivation, direction, and support to your internal and external teams.
Establishes par levels for supplies, liquor, beer, wine, equipment and completes requisitions to replenish shortages or additional items needed for anticipated business levels
Maintain low wastage levels through good stock management and rotation, accurate recording, training and active monitoring.
Prepare daily / weekly reports as required and recommend improved ways of working as part of the operational management team.
Work with the finance team to ensure processes are in place for the cash management of the bar
To assist in setting budgets & targets for the bar, communicate these to the team and implement strategies to achieve daily targets
Trains staff on liquor control policies and procedures.
Supervises staffing levels to ensure that customer service, operational needs and financial objectives are all met.
Communicates critical information to staff regarding each event through proactive pre- and post briefings
To analyse daily/weekly/monthly beverage sales identifying opportunities for increasing profitability and maximising revenue.
Contribute to the formulation and review of risk assessments for the bar and restaurant.
Take responsibility for monitoring and reporting any health and safety issues to the appropriate person.
To support colleagues at peak times and to undertake any operational duty that might be reasonably required
Conduct briefings and training to ensure that staff have strong product knowledge and are able to up sell and deliver service to the standards required.
Development, production, and delivery of all bar events from proposal right up to operational delivery

Experience in influencing and managing others
Personal License holder is desirable
Experience in high volume bar management essential
