Director of Risk & Compliance

Salary: c.£80k-£100k + Bonus

Join an entrepreneurial organization as the new Director of Risk & Compliance. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Risk or Senior Risk Manager to lead the charge in shaping the risk management direction of a rapidly growing business.

In this pivotal role, you will focus on developing, maturing, and embedding robust risk frameworks throughout the organization, redesigning processes, and ensuring effective management of key risks. As the business evolves, you will play a critical role in its expansion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage with senior stakeholders to identify and manage risks while establishing strong governance and control frameworks that align with the Group's strategic objectives.
  • Provide actionable insights on risk strategy, regulatory compliance, and quality in sales operations.
  • Prepare and deliver comprehensive reports for the Risk and Compliance Committee and boards, ensuring clarity and relevance of communication.
  • Promote alignment in risk and compliance measures across the Group, staying updated on global trends and sharing insights across various jurisdictions.
  • Lead and nurture a high-performing compliance and internal audit team to enhance skills and strengthen stakeholder relationships.
  • Design and implement methodologies for internal audits and compliance, ensuring all corrective actions are tracked and processed efficiently.
  • Generate concise and timely audit reports while collaborating with teams to maintain accuracy and relevance.
  • Initiate audits and reviews through close consultation with management, defining the scope, objectives, and securing necessary approvals.
  • Foster strong relationships with management, finalizing audit reports and providing ongoing support and guidance.

Desired Experience:

  • Extensive background in risk management with a focus on developing an organization's risk framework.
  • Demonstrated success in navigating evolving risk environments and guiding transformations of risk frameworks.
  • We seek analytical and improvement-oriented leaders who can evaluate complex processes and implement control enhancements.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and challenge constructively.
  • Strong commercial insight, balancing business goals with effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • A positive outlook towards change within a fast-paced environment.
  • Preferred exposure to Legal, Insurance, or non-Banking sectors; however, it is not essential.
